Do you need a reason to eat a sweet? Ask me then you will get a answer big "NO". The reason why I cannot diet also for the same reason. I am so addicted to so much to sweet after lunch should have a sweet .
The above post is my all time favourite kheer. Back home we also make kheer from the whole wheat also. but the whole process is very lenghty and time consuming but the end product is a delicious and yummy payasam. For us kheer/Paysam is always made with coconut milk.
Broken/Cracked Wheat Kheer/Payasam
(broken wheat cooked with coconut milk and jaggery &spices)
1.5 cup washed & cooked broken wheat
3.5 to 4 cups of coconut milk (fresh)
1.5 cup jaggery
1tsp cardom powder
cashews, kishmish, almonds
Presurre cook the broken/cracked wheat in a cooker for about 4-5 whistle. it should be cooked properly otherwise once you add the jaggery it tends stiffen.
Add the jaggery and keep stirring till the jaggery is dissloved completely. Now add the coconut milk, cardamom powder and the nuts fried in ghee.
let the entire mixture cook in the sim till entire mixture comes together.
- You can make the kheer with the milk also but replace jaggery to sugar
- It tastes better with coconut milk and jaggery
