2 riped tomatoes
1/4 cup boiled tour dal
1/2 " ginger crushed
lemon sized tamarind
salt per taste
2tsp rasam powder
For the Rasam Powder (Tamil Version)
2 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
2 tsp coriander seeds
1tsp methi seeds
10-12 dry red chilli (byadgi variety)
1tsp mustard seeds
1 strand curry leaves
1/4 cup coriander leaves chopped
Take all the ingredients of rasam masala powder and dry it under the sun for one day and grind it into fine powder in the blender and store it.
Pressure cook the tour dal with ginger till its mushy. Take a vessel and tomatoes and enough water and cook with salt, tamarind water and jaggery till its soft. Now to this add the cooked dal and rasam powder, and bring to a boil.
Add the tampering, garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice and papad.
